SubscriberHello esteemed forum members,I am currently working on the simulation of a 6-antenna microstrip patch array in the same environment (HFSS/CST). My goal is to obtain the complete S-parameter matrix of the system, considering a multistatic operating scheme.Specifically, I want to configure the simulation so that each antenna acts as a transmitter one at a time, while the others function as receivers. For example:Antenna 1 as Tx → obtain S21, S31, S41, S51, S61Antenna 2 as Tx → obtain S12, S32, S42, S52, S62and so on until all combinations are completed.I would like to know the key considerations and the correct procedure for:Defining the excitation ports in a multi-antenna arrayAccurately obtaining all S-parameters without errors due to coupling or port configurationCorrectly configuring the radiation boundary (PML) and spacing between antennasAvoiding convergence problems or spurious modes in the simulationAny guidance or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.Thank you very much. -

SubscriberHello! From your description, it looks like each patch in the array is fed separately. In HFSS, you can use simple lumped port for each patch. What you described (exciting one antenna/port at a time) is the classic definition of S-parameter matrix, no special consideration necessary. To answer other conserns listed:
- accuracy of S-parameters: default options in Advanced solution setup should be enough, search internet for multiple tricks to enhanced accuracy if needed
- spacing between antennas is a part of array design; parameterize it and tune for the application needed
- One can assign airbox with the choice of radiation boundary by Model > Create Open Region in Project Manager window
In general, search the internet / Youtube for the examples of Antenna simulation options; use "Open > Examples" in AEDT and search HFSS Help (pdf or on-line) for the detailed documentation for the chosen options as needed,
