Porous media: boundary condition on interface between porous media and fluid zone

      Hello,


      In my model I am using a porous media zone. I would like to know what exactly are the conditions that Fluent imposes on the surface that there is between the fluid and the porous media. For that surface I selected "interior", like I saw in an Ansys Tutorial. I searched on the User's Guide but I didn't found what that implies physically (I mean like conditions imposed on pressures and velocities).

      Interior means that there's a surface but it doesn't do anything. All zones must be bounded, on the outside of a domain this may be a wall or inlet; between two fluids it may be a wall (no flow) or interior (flow passes straight through).

      What I would like to know is to know the mathematical condition between the two mediums.


      Is there only the addition of a term in the momentum equations for the porous medium and nothing else?

      Yes, there is a source term accounted for in the momentum equation, which creates an artificial velocity along the porous medium.
