SubscriberHi,
I have a question regarding the correct setup for calculating wall deformation caused by fluid pressure in ANSYS.
In my case, fluid pressure from a CFD simulation is applied on the pipe wall, and I want to evaluate the resulting structural deformation of the wall.
My question is:
Is it necessary to explicitly define and mesh the solid domain in order to compute the wall deformation, or is there a way to obtain the deformation without creating a full solid mesh?As a preliminary step, I am planning to test this using a simple pipe model and perform structural analysis based on the fluid pressure distribution.
I would appreciate any guidance on the recommended modeling approach or best practices for this type of problem.
Thank you for your help.

Ansys EmployeeHello,Â
yes, you will need to include the solid mesh to perform a structural analysis. You can do it within Fluent itself, look at intrinsinc FSI Chapter 29: Modeling Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) Within Fluent
