SubscriberHi,
I am modeling the compressor foundation with pile supporting. my query is how to model pile as spring in foundation model.
this foundation is dynamic analysis foundation and pile spring stiffnes consideration with dynamic pile stiffness.
can any one help me how to model pile as spring with dynamic pile stiffness.

Ansys EmployeeHello Ramesh,
You can model springs in Ansys LS-DYNA using the Connections feature, where springs can be defined with both longitudinal stiffness and damping. LS-DYNA supports springs with either constant or nonlinear stiffness. For nonlinear springs, you can use Tabular Data to determine the spring's force versus displacement curve, allowing the stiffness to vary based on the spring's deformation state. This means the spring stiffness can be made state-dependent (i.e., dependent on displacement), but not directly time-dependent through the standard GUI.Â
Defining Nonlinear (State-Dependent) Stiffness
- You can set up a nonlinear spring by specifying a force-displacement curve in the spring properties. This curve defines how the spring force changes with displacement, effectively allowing for variable stiffness as the spring stretches or compresses.Â
- For compression-only or tension-only springs, positive values must be used in the load curve; for springs that work in both directions, negative values are also valid.Â
More details can be found here: 6.1. Springs
