SubscriberI'm getting the error: "An error occurred inside the SOLVER module: general error."
I have installed "ANSYS STUDENT 2025 R1" and "ANSYS LS-DYNA STUDENT 2024 R1"
I have created a basic model using both external CAD software and exported as .step and Ansys native design programs. In both cases even the simplest models generate this error. It looks like it can’t find the solver for some reason. There were no errors during installation.I’m not sure what’s going on. If the solver was not installed, why not? If it was, why can’t LS-Dyna find it?
Here are some screenshots of the Outline tree and of the “C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\ANSYS Student\v251\ansys\bin\winx64” directory.
I really hope someone can help. All I did was install and follow a tutorial exactly and got this error half-way through. I haven’t been able to make any progress since

Ansys EmployeeHello User,
Yes, indeed, workbench LS-DYNA is not available in the student version. There are internal licensing changes, and the student product team couldn't offer the LS-DYNA solver because of those challenges. We are constantly working to bring Workbench LS-DYNA back into the student package.
You will still see the LS-DYNA extension in the workbench, but the package does not have LS-DYNA solver executables. Please feel free to use LSPP to pre- and post-process your models. Please let us know if you need specific help accessing/using LSPP.
Regards,
Nanda.

SubscriberHello Nanda,
Thank you for your reply. Is there a way to use Workbench to create an input file that I can use with the standalone LS_Dyna solver that is inculded with "ANSYS LS-DYNA STUDENT 2024 R1"?
And when do you think LS-Dyna will be included with Workbench? ANSYS STUDENT 2025 R2, Maybe?
Thanks,

Ansys EmployeeHello user,
Yes, we can write an input file from Mechanical. Please follow this path: In the left project tree, LS-DYNA>>Environment>>Write input file.
Let me know if you cannot do it in the student version.
Regarding the availability of the LS-DYNA solver within WB, our team is working to make it happen as early as possible—hopefully 2025r2.
Best,
Nanda
