We have an exciting announcement about badges coming in May 2025. Until then, we will temporarily stop issuing new badges for course completions and certifications. However, all completions will be recorded and fulfilled after May 2025.

Torque Constant and Back EMF Constant Mismatch Ansys Maxwell

Hello, I am simulating an axial flux motor (2D simplification). The solution setup is transient. I set the linear speed to correspond to 10000 RPM. The max phase back EMF is 5.2 V. The torque however is around 2.15 mNm with phase currents <0.3 A. The torque constant is higher than the back EMF constant. Why is this the case? The torque is calculated by taking the Force_X and multiplying by R.

Hello, the torque is calculated by the software. You can check the torque results if you create a transient plot> Rectangular plot> Moving1.Torque (Y quantity).

@escape road city 2 Confirm the units for both torque and EMF constants (e.g., Ke should be in V/rad/s, not V/RPM).
