Setup Optimetrics at HFSS 3D Layout Design

      Hi,

I would like to optmize the void dimension (From X-axis & Y-axis) underneath a capacitor model.

When I try to add variable at the 1 of 4 points coordinate as below, the file will get into crash and not responding.

Please kindly advice how to set optimetric to do sweeping.

      Thanks!

      Hi Fran,

You might try to set 19425.1mil-$y1. If there is no unit for 19425.1, its unit will be the meter.

I guess that such a big value induces the crash.

I tried the below settings, it works well

      Regards,

      Yang

        Hi Fran,

I see that you changed the unit to mill after adding a variable. It would be fine. But it is better to check the unit of the Evaluated Value again.

We can also try to use a Void Rectangle instead of a Polygon first if you just want to get a rectangle void.

      Hi Yang,

      Good morning.

I am able to setup the optimetric using your recommendation with adding units to the coordinate and the file not longer crashing.

But one question here, is there any way to confirm the sweep is it follow per our expectation?

(Meaning play around the variable and checking the changes on the model we built)

I saw a video in youtube that able to justify the variable before start analyse.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lMpJxEBGNww  ( you can start from t= 4M25s)

      Hi Fran,

Yes, you can click the project name (or the main menu Project->Project Variables) to see the project variables.

You can change the value and check the model.

The variables with $ are project variables, and those without $ are design variables.

In the video, it uses design variables so the variables are shown when clicking the design name.

      Hi Yang,

Thank you very much for the prompt reply!

I able to view the changes in the model construct after changing the value at the project variable area.

      Thank you very much!

      Best regards,

      Francis Kho
