HFSS Capacitance Excitation

Hello, I am trying to excite a pair of capacitor plates using an external current source and some lumped RLC elements (connected between them). I have no other excitation apart from the current source. I intend to find the E field magnitude between the plates. However, with this setup I am getting E field only around 1 set of cap plates(nothing in between or other pair). Can someone please tell me if I need to specify any other excitation in my model?

Can you please upload a screenshot of your model?

Hello Serano, This is my schematic for the model. There are 2 capacitor plates and the highlighted rectangle represents a current source I am using (20A). The other rectangles represent lumped RLC elements to resonate the circuit. I am not using any other excitation. Thanks

If you have two sources you need to go to 'HFSS > Fields > Edit Sources' to turn on the second source.

Thanks Peter, but I only Intend to use a single current source excitation. However, my model doesn't behave as expected. Can you please tell me if I need to use any other excitation (such as lumped port)?

What frequency is this operating at? What are these objects you're trying to excite with the current source? Do you expect them to radiate as they're drawn? How did you select the length and width of these strips?

Hello Peter, I am operating at 13.5 MHz. The rectangular elements around the current source and the bottom of the circuit are some lumped RL elements. They are not expected to be radiating and just act as normal circuit elements for my simulation. I am interested in the E fields radiated by my capacitors.

Please find attached the circuit diagram of my schematic.Circuit Diagram

In this case I see no physical connection between the inductors L1/L2 and Cs1/Cs2? It looks like there's a line drawn between them but this will not create a physical connection to complete the loop...

Hello Peter, Those lines are actually thin copper wires(cylinders) touching the capacitor plates on one side and intersecting the lumped RL rectangles on the other.

Try plotting the mesh on the structure - are those wires meshed densely enough? - Plot Jsurf on the surface of the conductors and try increasing the power level in the Fields>Edit Sources dialog if it looks too close to 0...
