Could not connect to any license servers

I have installed ANSYS License Management Center (2019 R1) and am running the license file provided to me.

However, when I run an installed program such as ANSYS Mechanical 19.2, it returns me the error "Could not connect to any license servers."

In the address bar on my browser, it appears that the server is located at localhost:1084. Could this be an issue?

I'm running Windows 64-bit and have a license key for the electronics and mechanical packages and I'm trying this with Window's Firewall disabled.

      My ansyslmd.ini contains:

      SERVER=2325@DESKTOP-MLNOP1J

      ANSYSLI_SERVERS=1055@DESKTOP-MLNOP1J

Where "DESKTOP-MLNOP1J" is our computer's name

I thank you in advance for any help/advice you provide.

       Hi Mutrac,

      Thanks for the info.

If you open up CMD Prompt, then issue the following command

      ping DESKTOP-MLNOP1J -4

      what do you get ?

Also, do you have an 'update' folder under (default location) C:Program FilesANSYS IncShared FilesLicensingwinx64

      Thanks,

      Win

      Hi Win,

      Thanks for the reply.

I am able to ping my computer/server using IPv4

      ping

However, there is not an 'update' folder that I can find

      Thanks,

      Mutrac

      Hi Mutrac,

Thanks for the info. This looks good.

If you open up Task Manager, do you see all of these 4 processes running : ansysli_monitor.exe , ansysli_server.exe, lmgrd.exe, ansyslmd.exe  ?

If not, stop here and try restarting your ANSYS License Manager again.

If so, try the followings in CMD Prompt

      telnet DESKTOP-MLNOP1J 2325

      telnet DESKTOP-MLNOP1J 1055

If it works fine, you should see a blank CMD window.

Note that your machine may not have telnet feature turned on. You can turn it on by typing Windows features in "Search Windows" tool box , then look for "Turns Windows features on or off" and launch this. Then, scroll down to the bottom and check "Telnet Client" > OK

      Thanks,

      Win

      Hi Win,

I have found all 4 processes in task manager and both the 'telnet' commands return a blank CMD screen.

      Thank you

      Hi Mutrac,

      Hmm, this is odd.

Restart your License Manager, then go to C:Program FilesANSYS IncShared FilesLicensing

and open up these two files

      ansysli_server.log

      license.log

and take screenshots of the bottom part of these two files and post them here.

Also, on the same directory, open up ansyslmd.ini file and post the content of it here.

Lastly, open up CMD Prompt, then issue the following command

      set a

then post the screenshot of the output of it.

      Thanks,

      Win

      Hi Win,

      Thanks for your continued support.

You were right to believe this was odd.

So I was going through the different files to screenshot and when I got to the ansyslmd.ini file I realized that I had the ports swapped:

      (i.e. "SERVER=2325@DESKTOP-MLNOP1J

ANSYSLI_SERVERS=1055@DESKTOP-MLNOP1J" instead of the other way around).

I wrote it the way it should be and it appears to be all working now!

Thank you again for all your patience and help

      John

      Hi John,

      Good catch !

      Sorry, I missed that too.

But I'm glad it's working fine now.

      Thanks,

      Win

Hello, I am having similar symptoms but when I try to ping my server computer, I get "Request timed out". I am connected to the same network on both computers and am confused what could be causing this. I am also making a separate post about my issue, but since this one was similar I wanted to tag along.

      Thanks,

      Jack

      Hi Mutrac & tsiriaks,

I have all those same problems. I follow all the procedure in this /thread but I can not go forward and install License.

         1. Mutrac, what did you do when you said on 3 March "I wrote it the way it should be and it appears to be all working now!"?

         2. tsiriaks, I don't have those files ansysli_server.log & license.log in C:Program FilesANSYS IncShared FilesLicensing

Sorry for my english, I'm Argentinian.

      Thanks for all,

      Santiago

      I share you a screenshot of the CMD trying "telnet @nameofmypc 2325" & "telnet @nameofmypc 1055".

All I want is my Customber number (Account number) to start my license in ANSYS.

      Thanks,

      Santiago.

      Hi Santiago,

Do you have a paid-up license that's hosted on some machine as a license server ?

      Thanks,

      Win
