Fluent 19.2 not starting

      Hello!

I am writing because Fluent 19.2, installed on my laptop, is not starting at all. Whenever I launch it, either from workbench or standalone, I get for one second the blackscreen shown in the screenshot and then nothing happens (took me 4-5 attempts also to take the picture ). I can successfully launch it from the command prompt as suggested in several posts, such as /forum/forums/topic/fluent-doesnt-start-at-all/.

In the above link it is suggested to rearrange the order of the environmental variables, but just in case, no idea how to do it: all I know is how to edit/create them.

Thank you very much if you can help me out! (No I won't go for CFX, I need Fluent for the ROM Builder in Workbench. Also, polyhedra meshes are cute)

      Hi LoGaL,

Please open up CMD Prompt, then issue the following command

      set path

and post the output of it here.

Also, just to confirm, you meant you can launch Fluent GUI directly with the command something like this

      "C:Program FilesANSYS IncANSYS Studentv192fluentntbinwin64fluent.exe" ^-r19.2.0 3d -meshing

but you have issue when trying to launch the Fluent Launcher ?

      Thanks,

      Win

yes, i can launch it with something like "C:Program FilesANSYS IncANSYS Studentv192fluentntbinwin64fluent.exe" ^-r19.2.0 3d -meshing by specifing the appropriate path, but not with the launcher.

Forgive me but it doesn't allow me to post using copy-paste the set output

ok your Path looks very similar to the original Path in that thread. So, you may have the same issue as that thread. Try rearranging the Path as described in that thread. Here is how to do it  , https://www.java.com/en/download/help/path.xml

Make sure you make a copy of the original value before making any change.

If this doesn't help, please resend the output of the 'path'

      Thanks,

      Win

Yes i am aware of that way to edit the variables but i don't see how it should affect the path "order", actually, in that sort of windows GUI they are just shown in alphabetical order. Some of the variables shown in the set path definitely don't appear in that menu. The gui itself is also really reductive, it just allows me to open the folder/file specified.

you are supposed to 'modify' the Variable named 'Path' , not creating a new Variable.

so what would you modify to move the windows path to the beginning of the set path?
When i modify, i can only:change name, change value, open the folder/file specified in the value

Once again, i see no relation to the order in which the variables are stored in the register

if you look at the 'value' , you will see that it's a list of different directories separated by semi-colon ';'  , you must move

      C:Windowssystem32;C:Windows;C:Windowssystem32Wbem;C:Windowssystem32WindowsPowerShellv1.0;

to the front of the list.

Ah i see what you mean, there are some variable names containing multiple addresses, not just one
      I will try soon

Go to (default location) C:Program FilesANSYS IncANSYS Studentv192   , then look for 'fluent' folder.   Right-click on this folder - > Properties , then post the screenshot of it.

Also, try this. Open elevated CMD Prompt (right click on CMD and 'run as administrator') , then issue the following command

      move C:program C:program_old

what is the output of this ? Does it help ?

Sorry i clicked by accident to "is solution": anyways, my fluent folder: keep in mind i am installing in an other directory, could that be the issue?

Also, move C:program C:program_old says it's impossible to find the folder specified

I'm 95% sure that this is a localization (language) issue. We have seen a lot of different issues causing by this .

Could you try changing your systems to English (not sure if that would change your path to be in English like 'Program Files' or not). Or can you try installing ANSYS to C:Ansys folder ?

       C:Ansys works

I would label your post as solution but i did it aleady above. Thank you very much

      That's great news !!

      Thanks for trying that.

No worries, that's fine. The thread is marked as resolved, so people know there is a resolution for this.

      Thanks,
