SubscriberHello,
I have been having an issue when loading files into CFD-Post. The error message reads Communication Error: unexpected end of transmission from engine, among other things. This occurs after attempting to load a data file from Fluent.Â
I attached the following text from the CFD-Post command window.Â
"The following information may be useful to CFX support:
Unexpected error: Aborting due to unexpected error:
socketError: RemoteEngineProtocol::receiveTransStat - Communications error: unexpected end of transmission from engine, expected status code."
I'd appreciate any help to get this error solved. I already tried restarting the computer. I also checked to ensure the license was running and active, which it is.
Thanks,
Alex

SubscriberWe are using cfdpost standalone.
We are exporting the data files automatically, which is what we are trying to load into cfd post.Â
I just manually exported the cdat file from fluent, and when loading it into cfd post it gives me the same error as above.Â
Thanks,
Alex

SubscriberHello,
Just checked, no spaces or special characters in the file name. Models being used are turbulence, vof to dpm, and we are utilizing mesh adaption with that.Â
File name contains underscores, letters, and the dashes/numbers automatically input by fluent when autosaving files.Â
It is 85,577 KB.Â
Lastly, yes, I am able to load and process the file in fluent post-processing.Â
Thanks,
Alex

Forum ModeratorI wonder if the VOF to DPM part is causing some of the issues. All of the images I've seen of that model are from Fluent post processing: I also know that some of the multiphase models don't translate well for various reasons. Given I am usually working on multiphase problems I tend to use Post very rarely now: also with R19 and onwards the Fluent graphics are getting a lot of work.Â
Can you pass a simple model into CFD Post?Â

SubscriberSince posting this I have run a few things, and some of them load perfectly fine into CFD post, while others give me that same error. They have all been VOF to DPM and multiphase, so I am not really sure what aspect is causing the error. I can run some cases in CFD post of this same model. It also is only occurring on one of our computers, whereas the others have not had this issue.Â
We mainly use CFD post to check how the model is progressing while it is still running.
Thanks,
AlexÂ

Forum ModeratorIf it's only occurring on one computer I'd check the install on that machine: can you open any files on CFD Post on there?Â

SubscriberI will try uninstalling and reinstalling once my currently running model has completed running.
Thank you,
Alex.
