Subscriber In both student version 19.1 and 19.2 I am now unable to attach any geometries to the Meshing with the attached error. I have reinstalled the software from scratch to no avail. There was a workaround where I could rename the temporary files but that stopped working.

Ansys EmployeeHi jpsinger,
Did it hang for a while (like 30 seconds or so) before throwing this error ?
Can you try temporarily disabling Firewall and anti-virus software for a test ?
Any *.err file(s) under your installation directory (e.g., C:Program FilesANSYS Inc) ?Â
Thanks,
Win

Ansys EmployeeHi jpsinger,
I meant the temporarily 'disabling Firewall and anti-virus software' itself is the test part to see if they are the root cause of the issue.
Also, with this new error message, can you try the 'static structural' module , create a simple block for geometry, then open up Mechanical. Does this also crash with dump file created ?
If so, it's very likely you have issue related to graphics. You can try updating your graphics driver and if you do have Nvidia or AMD card, make sure that your machine is set to primarily use this dedicated card instead of integrated Intel graphics card.
Thanks,
Win

SubscriberIt did crash. This computer does not have a dedicated card. I had previously run both 19.1 and 19.2 for 5 months. I cannot disable the antivirus easily, I will look into that, but is there anything else I can try in the meantime?

Ansys EmployeeHi jpsinger,
If you only have Intel graphics here, try thisÂ
Make sure you have all pending Windows update installed. Open Device Manager -> Display Adapters and open your card properties. -> go to Driver tab and try 'Roll Back Driver'
if that doesn't help
try 'Update Driver'Â
Does any of these help ?
Thanks,
Win

SubscriberCould not get to this site due to international travel, but I did resolve this, though I am not terribly happy with the solution. I tried the graphics stuff, which didn't work. In the end, I had to remove my antivirus (Cisco Endpoints) completely and replace it with Widows Defender. This is not what is recommended for our on-capus systems, so compatibility with the Cisco Endpoints product would be preferable.

Ansys EmployeeCan you add Cisco Endpoints Security exceptions to C:Program FilesANSYS Inc folder ?
