Hello
When analysing in parametric mode, the following error occurs at certain values and the analysis is terminated. What should I do?
 *** ERROR ***              CP =   8711.515  TIME= 15:00:47
 Poorly shaped facets in surface mesh.  Either:             Â
 (1) Mesh surfaces with triangular elements & modify mesh control or  Â
 SmartSize settings to get good triangular mesh, then VMESH again;    Â
 AND/OR                                 Â
 (2) Use alternate mesher by setting "MOPT,VMESH,ALTE".   ÂBest regards.

It appears that the parametric study is producing a mesh that does not satisfy the MAPDL mesh metrics. You probably need to revise the original mesh so that it can be successfully modified during the parametric study.

How exactly should this be handled? The analysis is terminated after controlling the mesh size.Is it valid to add the SMARTSIZE command? I am currently meshing using "esiz,esz vmesh,all".

There is no magical pill. If the study is modifying the mesh, you may need to limit the range of the study and/or attempt to understand how the mesh is changing during the study and create an initial mesh that is able to more robustly change during the study. A simple example would be if a 2D mesh contained square elements (ideal shape) but those elements are distorted (e.g., crushed) into thin rectangles during the study, you may want to begin with an initial mesh that contained rectangluar elements that distorted into a more square like shape. The bottomline is that you need to understand how the mesh is becoming distorted and attempt to create a mesh that is able to substain that amount of distortion.

Can MAPDL create meshes automatically? The object being analysed is a parallel plate capacitor with a very simple structure. The element type SOLID123 is used for the electrostatic analysis. The program is designed to analyse capacitance by parametrically varying the size (area) of the electrodes vertically and horizontally.The following is performed.
