Hello,

a few days ago, i tried installing ANSYS Student 19.2 but encountered several problems.
I Downloaded the zip-file from the ANSYS Website and unpacked it. i ran the setup.exe as administrator and proceeded through the setup process. I should mention that my anti-virus software (Avira) kept putting files into quarantine when running it, so i had to shut it down while installing. 
After the setup was completed no desktop or start menu shortcuts were created and i had to search through the installation directory to even find any .exe files other than productconfig and uninstall.exe that resembled a workbench shortcut. When running the "RunWB2.exe" under ANSYS IncANSYS Studentv192FrameworkbinWin64 i receive the Error messages below.

Note that my Language is set to german. A friend of mine encountered the same problem during his installation.
After looking through some of the Threads on this forum, i found that a suggested fix for similar problems is to set the system language to english (what i frankly find somewhat ridiculous). I set my region and language to English on my Windows profile and tried running the exe again but received pretty much the same error message. (in english obviously)

My directx diagnostics show the following now.

What i find the weirdest is the fact that during the installation i was never asked to confirm my identity as a Student of a university and that no desktop shortcuts are being created after the installation. This makes me believe that something went wrong during the installation process.

Do i actually have to setup an entirely new windows profile, apply the region and language settings to that profile and reinstall ANSYS? Or is this an entirely different problem?

I think this is an entirely different issue.

and let us know if it helps. Note that in that case, it was IronRuby but in your systems, it could be something else that cause this issue with IronPython.

As for the missing shortcuts, this could be an issue with Windows 10. I would recommend to check under this C:ProgramDataMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuPrograms , to see if you actually don't have the shortcuts or not.

To check if your installation has any issue, see if you have install.err file under (default) C:Program FilesANSYS Inc

i did as you suggested in the linked thread and uninstalled IronRuby from my PC and now Workbench finally starts! 
I looked in the directory you suggested and also found the folder i'm used to starting ANSYS from at my University's PCs.

I also got a problem installing ANSYS student. The problem is similar as what Array had. After the installation was done, I just didn't see any shortcut. And I tried to run RunWB2.exe from \ANSYS Inc\ANSYS Student\v211\Framework\bin\Win64, but it still wasn't working.
