SubscriberDear All,
I am currently working with Ansys Workbench 18.2 in modal mode and, after running the simulation, I would like to get the mass and stiffness matrices. Since the program did not actually give me the ".emat" and ".full" files automatically, I inserted a command line (APDL) with the string:"EMATWRITE, YES".
Everything seemed to work, in the solution information file it was written:
"
*** ANSYS BINARY FILE STATISTICS
BUFFER SIZE USED= 16384
62.000 MB WRITTEN ON ELEMENT MATRIX FILE: file0.emat
30.375 MB WRITTEN ON ASSEMBLED MATRIX FILE: file0.full
4.625 MB WRITTEN ON MODAL MATRIX FILE: file0.mode
7.562 MB WRITTEN ON RESULTS FILE: file0.rst
*************** Write FE CONNECTORS *********
"
but once looking in the folder, none of these files was there, just a file0.err.
How could I get these matrices anyway?
Thank you very much in advance.

SubscriberDear Paolo,
On a Modal Analysis, I changed a few items so that files were not deleted after the solution was completed.
I don't know if it was Future Analysis or Delete Unneeded Files or another setting that was useful.
Reading the solver output, I noticed these lines...
DO NOT COMBINE ELEMENT SAVE DATA FILES (.esav) AFTER DISTRIBUTED PARALLEL SOLUTION
DO NOT COMBINE ELEMENT MATRIX FILES (.emat) AFTER DISTRIBUTED PARALLEL SOLUTION
DO NOT COMBINE ASSEMBLED MATRIX FILES (.full) AFTER DISTRIBUTED PARALLEL SOLUTION
FORCE WRITING OF THE EMAT FILE
I expect you want to find the APDL command to combine those files rather than to have them remain split. I turned off Distributed Parallel and solved a small problem on one core as a workaround. Here are the list of files in the MECH folder after the solution.

SubscriberDear Peter,
thank you very much for your reply. With Ansys Workbench I have not managed to obtain much, but I have found another solution: by clicking on "Tools" into the "Mechanical PrepPost" window, I then chose "Write Input File" and saved the ANSYS APDL File as an input file for Ansys Classic.
After running the input file into Ansys Classic, I finally found the files that I was looking for.
Now I am looking for a way to convert these matrices into a format which could be opened in Matlab, if you have any idea, please shout it out loud.
