Dear Fellow researchers,
I hope this post finds you well. My name is biswash paudel, and I am writing as a fellow researcher.
I am interested in importing the graphene properties into HFSS, I have been working on a related project that involves simulating graphene-based structure using HFSS, and I found myself facing some challenges in this aspect. I was hoping this forum provide some guidance or clarification to this matter.
I calculate the graphene conductivity using Kubo's formula which gives me both real and imaginary.
My issue is "Do I need to calculate the permittivity from the complex conductivity and import into HFSS OR the real part of conductivity needs to apply as permittivity and imaginary as loss tangent?".
please find the attached graphene conductivity code and plot in MATLAB.
Thank you -

Hi Biswash,Â
Complex material properties have been traditionally entered as either of the following: real relative permittivity, real relative permeability, electric/magnetic loss tangent, and conductivity.
Though this is helpful for many industries, there are now many applications that benefit by having an entry of a real and an imaginary relative permittivity and permeability as well. In some applications, it is also helpful to have entry of a complex conductivity. HFSS now allows all of the
above entries to aid in a high fidelity model of the material. So, you can use complex conductivity values.ÂFor more information, you can look up the HFSS help document that comes with Student version.Â

Hi Mellak
The MATLAB code screenshot is in the post. It is the same one.Â

Thanks,
