SubscriberHello,
I have a question about the fiber orientation in Ansys Workbench and applying the different material properties according to the fiber direction. I have an irregular zigzag shape that has different widths in various locations ( I attached the geometry). How can I apply different fiber directions? when I used the element orientation, It applied according to one edge (upper edge or lower edge) and I am not sure about the orientation of elements inside the geometry. I was wondering if I can use the user-defined
elements so that I can apply different properties to each element. But I am not familiar with programming software. Please help me how can do this. -

Ansys EmployeeHello Mahzad,
Defining the fiber reference direction (0o fiber direction) can be done easily with ACP (Ansys Composite PrepPost) and edge-wise rosettes (coordinate system):
The fiber orientation for elements inside the geometry will follow the edge-wise rosette as well. You can plot fiber reference geometry to double check the orientation for all elements.
There is a course on ACP on the Ansys Innovation Space (AIS):
/courses/index.php/courses/formula-sae-composite-monocoque-chassis-analysis/
Do you have access to the Ansys Learning Hub (ALH)? If so, there are courses on how to use ACP:

Let me know how it goes.
