/post1 trouble wtith Ansys Workbench thermal transient

      Hello together,

I’m working on an FDM AM simulation and got some troubles with the postprocessing.

The simulation with ekill and alive is working just fine. I’m trying to plot the thermal flux at the contact surface and the thermal contact conductance via APDL snippet:

!   Commands inserted into this file will be executed immediately after the ANSYS /POST1 command.

!   Active UNIT system in Workbench when this object was created:  Metric (m, kg, N, s, V, A)
!   NOTE:  Any data that requires units (such as mass) is assumed to be in the consistent solver unit system.
!   See Solving Units in the help system for more information.
      !
      step_nr=ARG1 ! here ARG1 = 1 the first load step
      !

      esel,s,type,,mycid !
! set colors for white background

      /RGB, INDEX,80,80,80, 13
      /RGB, INDEX,60,60,60, 14
      /RGB, INDEX,0,0,0, 0
      !
      /show,png
      /view,1,1,1,1
ples, cont, flux ! plot heat flux through contact elements
      etable,tcc_i,nmisc,94
      !
      plet,tcc_i,1
      allsel
      !
! plot 1 = thermal flux at the contact surface
! plot 2 = applied thermal contact conductance

The problem is that the deactivated elements are covering the print bed contact with the extruded material.  In the picture, you can see the print bed (big cuboid) and the extruded material (small cuboid). Is there a way to fade out the extruded part to reveal the contact area?

      With best regards

      John M.

May be use /trlcy,cm,name,0.7  to get the elements you do not care about to show with translucency? You can also unselect the elements.

        Hello Chandra,

thank you for your helpfull answer.

When I apply the changes the plot isn’t still what I indended.

        Here is my applied script:

I’m only interested in the display of the contact 173 elements and the heat flux through these elements. But I can’t plot it this way. The grey part named “path” should be transparent but it’s not. The underlying “bed” and “bed2″ should be not transparent, this is right in the second plot.

        With best regards
