Additional meshing around the crucial element

      Hi,

I would be very pleased if I'll able to add circa 1/16' red pointed "offset" which is encircled the crucial hole. I mean kind of inflation but it is doesn't work. Does someone can share how to do it

      Regards

      Mom

      Hi Mom,

I can't quite see the surface you are trying to inflate from the attached file, which I have included below.

A shaded rendering of the geometry might be easier to see. Is this a Mechanical or a CFD mesh?

I slice geometry in DesignModeler to get sweepable bodies that can easily be inflated such as this example of an airfoil.

Can you attach the geometry in Parsolid or other neutral file?

      Cheers,
      Peter

      Hi Peter,

This was attached as a "step" format.

Okay, can you attach that here? If not, attach it to an email to me and I will take a look.

Here is what I did on your geometry. I applied the following 4 mesh controls.

      1234

      Hope that helps.

      Cheers,
      Peter

      Hey momidor,

I compared inflation, which created wedge elements, with tetrahedral elements and learned that the tetrahedral elements converged on the exact value faster than the inflation layer elements. See this discussion.

      Hello Peter,

in this case do you recommend Tet element for mesh?

Yes mekafime, in this case, Tet elements converged on the exact solution with fewer elements than the Wedge elements.
But in another model, Hex elements might converge faster that Tet elements.

      Regards,

      Peter
