SubscriberI've been using Workbench, Spaceclaim, and Mechanical fine for weeks (21 R2 on Windows 11 on my personal computer). Suddenly, a few days ago, Spaceclaim started misbehaving. First the Additive Prep build volume wouldn't generate (but also didn't produce any errors).
If I try to load Spaceclaim from Workbench I'm told "The geometry editor was closed abnormally".Â
Steps I've already tried:
- I removed the Additive Prep features from Spaceclaim (Options > Licenses > Unchecked Additive) and that hasn't solved the issue.
- Renamed the Ansys APPDATA folder to clear the config.Â
- Run the SpaceClaim config file (Ansys/v212/commonfiles/configs/win64x/config/AnsConfigSpaceClaim.exe)
- Uninstalled the entire Ansys suite. Removed any lingering folders/files in the install directory. Rebooted. Reinstalled the entire Ansys suite.Â
And, I'm having the same problems.Â
I have no idea what to try next and this has basically put a stopper on all my work.Â

SubscriberI solved the issue by:
- Uninstalling the 21R2 suite.
- Deleting the remaining files and folders here:
- C:\Program Files\Ansys Inc
- %APPDATA%\Local\Ansys
- %APPDATA%\Local\Ansys\SpaceClaim
- %APPDATA%\Roaming\Ansys
- %APPDATA%\Roaming\Ansys\SpaceClaim
- Restarted my PC
- Reinstalled the 21R2 suite.Â
