SubscriberWe have new VM in Apporto that is ruining the latest Ansys 2023r1 suite.
The Ansys License Manger is running in lserver-p3 (216.47.143.100). The manager is running ok.
it uses port 1055 and 2325. Both are opened.
Â
I received this statement from VM users (We have the configuration set with the full domain name and port 1055. We are receiving an error "ansyslmd: Cannot connect to license server system. (-15,10032)" so we tried different variations of the configuration such as using the full domain name or IP and trying both ports 1055 and 2325)
Â
I checked it with our network group and they validate firewall. They have same setting for running one in lserver-p. Which has no error
I see in the log the Apporto VM is communicating with the manager but they are getting error. The server and port has the listening status.
I’m attaching the Ansys Manager log.
Please I need your tech support to look at it and let me know. We need to move users from old lserver-p  license server to new lserver-p3 and the moving is delayed because of the issue.
Thanks

Forum ModeratorPlease make sure the port for the ansyslmd daemon is open on the license server firewall. Starting with 2021R1 the applications must communicate through ansyslmd and lmgrd, where past releases used lmgrd and the ansysli_server process on 2325. You can set ansyslmd to a static port by adding it in the license file on the VENDOR line.
For example:
VENDOR ansyslmd PORT=1056

SubscriberWould you be able to provide more detailed instructions on what to do? Because I am having trouble locating the file and options. Thank you!Â

Forum ModeratorThe license file (ansyslmd.lic) would be here, by default: C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\Shared Files\Licensing\license_files. This is assuming nothing different has been configured. You may need IT to assist with this if it resides on a central license server machine.
The top of the license should read similar to this, but with a correct 'servername' and 'hostid'.
SERVER 'servername' 'hostid' 1055Â
VENDOR ansyslmd PORT=1056

SubscriberIn the case of no "ansyslmd.lic" appearing in my new student 2022R1 install nor 2023R1 install, what should I do?Â

Forum ModeratorAnsys Student installs should have no ansyslmd.lic file, and should not result in the error message noted in this thread. Please share a screenshot of the exact errors you are encountering.

Forum ModeratorIf you are running the Ansys Student product from https://www.ansys.com/academic/students/ansys-student you do not install the license manager. The Student Product has a built-in license and does not require any additional license management. You should remove the license manager if you are using the Ansys Student Product.
