SubscriberI installed a student version of ANSYS Workbench 2022 R1 and tried performing a Fluent simulation. However, when I enter the Setup mode after finishing the meshing, I get a message stating, "Cortex received a fatal signal (SEGMENTATION VIOLATION)." Could you please help me solve this issue? Earlier I had installed ANSYS Workbench R2021 R2 and encountered this problem. To solve the case, I uninstalled the 2021 R2 version and installed the 2022 R1 version; however, the problem persists.

Ansys EmployeeIf you scroll up in the window that shows the error, copy and paste all of the notification seen to this thread.
Try shutting down your Firewall/virus scanner and try to run.

SubscriberHi
Following is the complete message displayed at Console:
Also, I tried performing the same simulation after turning off my Anti-virus, but the same message and error are displayed.
The error message is given below:
"

Forum ModeratorCan you launch Fluent outside of Workbench? Instructions in the Fluids section. If so, in Meshing use File-Export and you want a .msh file for Fluent to read in.

SubscriberHi I have had the same problem as him when running Fluent from Workbench. This happened to me with several simple models, using both my laptop and desktop and both versions 2021 R2 and 2022 R1.
I followed your instructions for running Fluent outside Workbench and I finally was able to run a model on my desktop using version 2022 R1.

SubscriberHi,
Thanks, it worked for Fluent! How can I continue with this though? I finished with the setup and now I want to run the solution for the fluent project. However, I don't understand how can I further connect to my original project or even if could run as a separate entity, how? Also, is there any way through which I won't have this problem in future?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Regards Pankaj

Forum ModeratorMesh can be exported from Ansys Meshing (Workbench) or use the direct link from SpaceClaim to Fluent Meshing. If you alter the mesh you re-export and read the mesh into the existing Fluent session with the case loaded. Read the panels carefully and you'll replace the mesh but retain all of the other settings.

SubscriberHello
Thank you for your support!
I followed your instructions and finished the processes under Fluent. After I finished running the simulation under Fluent, I exported the output to CFD-Post, however, I got the following error and then there was a blank console. Could you please guide me through this?
I appreciate your support!
Thanks and Regards Pankaj

Forum ModeratorStaff are not permitted to open attachments, so please repost the image. I suggest learning to post process in Fluent as that's what we teach now, and why Fluent's post processing has seen a lot of work over the last few releases.

SubscriberHey, good news!
I disabled the firewall and it worked just fine. Apparently, I didn't know about the hidden setting in my anti-virus settings.
I guess I just have to disable the firewall before working on ANSYS projects from now on.
Thank you very much for the support! It was a simple task but I troubled you and your team a lot on my issue. I really appreciate your kind support!
March 7, 2022 at 10:03 pmGeorge Karnos
Ansys EmployeeNo trouble! Thank YOU for your patience!
If you can, add the c:\Program Files\Ansys Inc directory to the anti-virus exclusions, this way, you wont need to turn it off...
March 7, 2022 at 10:16 pmpathakpankaj441
SubscriberOk, I will check. I couldn't find such option in my Anti-virus tabs.
For now, I tried something (such as allowing cx220 all the time) but it didn't work. I have to maybe check it a little deeper.
Although, thanks a lot!
March 7, 2022 at 11:21 pmGeorge Karnos
Ansys EmployeeTry running without the firewall..
When the program appears and is running, open Windows Task Manager and then check the "Details" tab.
Then right-click on The columns (Name, PID, etc....) and choose Command line to be added to Columns
Add all running commands that have a PATH under the Ansys Inc directory.
Turn firewall back on and try to run.

SubscriberHey I am facing another issue now, don't know what it is. Could you please check and help me in this matter as well?
I am able to open and work in CFD Fluent now, yet there is some issue with CFD-Post now. When I perform the simulation and open CFD-Post, the below screen appears without any message/error. Also If I click anywhere else, checking other options, nothing is changed in the console.
April 8, 2022 at 2:13 pmpathakpankaj441
SubscriberAlso I am getting the below message when I try to open CFD-Post individually and load results from my project:
"
Failover feature 'CFD PrepPost' is not available.
Maximum licensed number of demo users already reached.
"
Could you please help me with this issue? While working on my project, I always shut my Firewall off, as I couldn't find the options of including the commands in my Anti-virus directory. Still, this problem persists.
April 8, 2022 at 2:16 pmGeorge Karnos
Ansys EmployeeMake sure you only have 1 instance of ANSYS software running.
You can not open multiple instances.
April 8, 2022 at 4:21 pmpathakpankaj441
SubscriberYes, I am working on only one project at a time. Also, I am opening Fluent, CFD-Post and other similar ANSYS consoles separately. Still, the problem persists.
April 8, 2022 at 4:23 pmGeorge Karnos
Ansys EmployeeIf you close everything and just open CFD-Post, does it open?
April 8, 2022 at 4:33 pmpathakpankaj441
SubscriberNo, it doesn't work. I opened CFD-Post only through the windows start option and tried loading all the following files, one at a time. Apart from them, I also tried opening one file in ".dat" format. However, it still doesn't work.
For "dat.h5" and "cas.h5", the console showed the long error message shortly stating "these files do not exist", and for other files, I didn't receive any error message, but the console was seen as I showed in the earlier message.
