I am interested in simulating a pipe placed in a liquid nitrogen bath.
I need to find the temperature and stress distribution on the pipe surface over time. How should I start my simulation? Which model do I need to use? Can I solve this problem using a transient thermal module instead of a fluent simulation?
Can I assume some constant value of heat transfer coefficient at the solid-liquid interface?

Forum ModeratorIf you need the flow field you can do all of the flow and thermal calculations in Fluent. Then pass the solid temperature back to Mechanical. If you're not worried about the flow, you can estimate a surface heat transfer coefficient and run it all in Mechanical.
