SubscriberI’m attempting to mesh a airfoil naca 63 212 using Ansys fluid fluent for a uni assignment. I’ve set my geometry and just completed my mesh. I think the mesh I’ve done is ok as a start but one side of the part has disappeared. Can anyone help with this? It’s the 2021 r2 software, this was attempted in uni so I think it’s the full package software. I’ve tried meshing in two different ways and below is the best.
thanks,
‘Rhys.

Forum ModeratorI'd be remeshing the above: the growth rate and aspect ratio are too high. Check in geometry that you have faces, it's possible to create an edge loop (or sketch) but not fill it in.

SubscriberHi rob by reducing these values will it bring the mesh close to airfoil but increase the gaps big and bigger until the edge.

Forum ModeratorYou don't have to map the faces.

SubscriberHi Rob do you offer any tutoring for Ansys?
November 26, 2021 at 9:53 amRob
Forum ModeratorPersonally, no. But Ansys does, I may then deliver it: one of the roles most of the staff on here cover is training. We (Ansys) are required to work through the University to attach the training to a licence and to comply with export rules. There is a charge for this, and please use the "contact us" button on ansys.com to take it further. A more cost effective option may be to get a subscription to the Ansys Learning Hub, https://www.ansys.com/services/ansys-learning-hub which contains all of the Ansys courses, many of which can be run on demand.
For your model I'd focus on reading/viewing some of the YouTube videos on the NACA air/aero foils.

SubscriberYes good shout with YouTube, IÔÇÖve watched a few just I seem to get stuck on this mesh again. IÔÇÖve saved my files locally but the files wonÔÇÖt open so IÔÇÖve had to start again. IÔÇÖve noticed now thereÔÇÖs a gap on airfoil at the Center point. Any ideas? Should I delete the last but one coordinate and make sure it goes back to 0? DoesnÔÇÖt seem to completely follow my geometry.

Forum ModeratorIt could be a tolerance issue, you need to be very careful to make sure the points all join up.
