SubscriberHello,
I am setting a dynamic simulation of a sphere that moves from left to right through a mixture. The geometry is shown below:

Forum ModeratorI'd use layering for this and move the sphere in a non-conformal "tube" up the middle. Ie move the "inner zone" in a tube and mesh the outer annular zone separately.

SubscriberHi Mr Rob
As always, thank you very much for your help. The ANSYS forum staff will definitely make an appearence in the acknowledgement section of my thesis.
Just to make sure I understood your suggestion: do you mean a geometry like the one below?
If that is indeed the case, how do I tell Fluent it should use Layering in the tube layers next to the inner zone? As of now, it doesn't let me choose an adjacent zone to the Inner zone, so I cannnot even set the ideal height for the adjacent layer.

Forum ModeratorThat's the one, assuming the black strip isn't part of the model, ie the symmetry is black:green contact.
You move the red zone using whatever method you want. Have a non-conformal interface between red+green & blue. Layering will occur in the green zones. Red moves and is not remeshed. The how isn't something I know much about: can advise, but if you look in Help for IC (in cylinder) examples you'll see the process.

SubscriberThe black zone is not part of the model, just a background.
Understood. I will try that by next week and let you know if it solved my issue.
