      Hi all,

I am doing my thesis in additive manufacturing . My major focus now is the simulation of the melt pool geometry. I have read a good number of journals and a got some idea about the modelling. But I am not able to find a material to do the melt pool simulation using ansys. Which module can be used for this melt pool simulation? Kindly share the sources for leaning . That would be very much helpful for me to progress further. Thank you all!

Additive Science is a good place to start for examining the microscopic characteristics of the melt pool given machine specs and material properties in an AM simulation. Please refer to the ANSYS Additive Users Guide (Print and Science) for more details.

Thank you . But I studied that ANSYS additive science is a parametric software and we cant get the temperature contours like workbench. Is that true? Correct me if I am wrong. Thank you once again

If you search on here there are a couple of others looking at laser sintering and melt pools. They're using Fluent and UDFs to add in laser energy & motion.

Hello, can you please help to share a link for the ANSYS Additive user guides (Print and Science) that you are referring to? I am also interested in the melt pool optimization study.
