Hello,
I have an Ansys License Manager Release 2021 R2 to host HFSS licenses for a group at my University. I believe we have a paid license. Users can connect and use a license for HFSS, but run into a problem when they try to use the hfss_solve feature.
I looked in the license server under "Display FlexNet License Status" and see the following:
July 28, 2021 at 10:59 amANSYS_MMadoreAnsys EmployeeThe "unsupported by licensed server" are likely due to having old license files still installed on the license server along with the new licenses. Users encountering errors solving must be sure to select the box to 'Use Pro, Premium, Enterprise Product Licenses' under Tools -> Options -> General Options -> General -> Desktop Configuration. Please note, the new licenses only support users running version 2020R1 and newer, any users of older versions must update to a newer release.
July 28, 2021 at 2:10 pmraithjrSubscriberHello I'm receiving the error about unsupported licenses on the FlexNet License Status screen on the Ansyss License Manager server. How can I remove the old licenses from the server? Will we still be able to use hfss_solve afterwards?
Thanks for your help!

In case anyone else comes across this issue in the future, our server showed two files under Ansys License Manager - View FlexNet Licenses. The file ansoftd.lic was outdated. I stopped the license server, deleted C:\Program Files\ANSYS Inc\Shared Files\Licensing\license_files\ansoftd.lic, and restarted the server and the errors are now gone.
The user was having trouble because they were using an older version of HFSS. We're hoping the errors are gone once the user finishes upgrading their installation.
