This course covers the intricate mathematical relationships in aerodynamics, focusing on circulation, velocity, and the concept of non-dimensional variables. The course also delves into dynamic aero elasticity, particularly the flutter problem in elastic bodies in a flow, such as wings and control surfaces. Learners will explore the concept of aerodynamic damping and methods to solve the flutter problem. The course further introduces finite state models in aerodynamics, demonstrating how to obtain a time domain model for any arbitrary motion of the airfoil. Lastly, the course explains the flutter analysis of a wing with a large aspect ratio, discussing the importance of natural frequencies and mode shapes, and the use of Rayleigh Ritz principles to obtain natural mode shapes.
