What is the purpose of using an undocumented KEYOPT(12)=1 setting for SOLID185? It is being set automatically in an additive manufacturing run in Mechanical software.
KEYOPT(12)=1 sets the element to be displacement-based only with no enhanced strains, i.e., similar to SOLID45 with KEYOPT(1)=1 [no extra shapes]. This can be more robust for some situations in which bending is not the predominant deformation pattern.
