In a CFD simulation, accurate representation of the flow in the near-wall region can make or break a reliable turbulence model. In this lesson, we will learn about the structure of turbulent boundary layers and the two different approaches for near-wall modeling, namely the viscous sublayer resolving approach and the wall-function approach. We will also learn how to choose the most suitable approach, how to create suitable meshes for each approach, and how/when to enter near-wall treatment settings in Ansys Fluent.
