Monitoring Forces on Wall Boundary Zone — Lesson 7

How can forces be monitored/post-processed on a partial or a clipped region of a wall boundary zone?

Force evaluation on selected regions of a wall can be done using a couple of methods. Two approaches are described below in the attached document. Note that both these approaches use “Marked Registers” to distinguish or demarcate the regions of interest on the wall zone.

Approach 1: Separate faces using registers.

Step 1: Mark the region encompassing the wall zone to be separated using the Refine/Coarsen option.
Step 2: Separate the wall zone using the marked register.
Step 3: Force report on the separated wall zones.

Approach 2: Evaluate using custom field functions and UDM markers.

Step 1: Mark the region encompassing the required partial wall using the Refine/Coarsen option.
Step 2: Invoke and patch UDM variables.
Step 3: Define custom field functions to evaluate forces.
