Fixing Convergence Issues with the Pressure-Based Coupled Solver

How to fix convergence issues when using the pressure-based coupled solver for compressible flow through a porous medium?

This is a general limitation of this solver with strong body forces in a very limited region. It is documented for porous jump boundary conditions but also applies to porous zones with a high resistance.

Typically, the convergence behavior is completely independent of all solver settings, the residuals stall at a very high level and the results can be unphysical.

The only solution is to use the pressure-based solver with a different scheme than coupled, e.g. SIMPLE (depending on the specific problem).
