1-2 HOURS

NPTEL

This course covers the fundamental aspects of Microwave Integrated Circuits (MICs) and their various forms. It provides an in-depth understanding of the integration of different circuits to realize a system, the use of planar transmission lines for MICs, and the role of lumped elements in MIC fabrication. For instance, it explains how a stripline's characteristic impedance can be calculated when the conductor thickness is finite. The course also explores the concept of lumped elements in microwave circuits, focusing on their definition, characteristics, and applications. It further delves into the different forms of inductors, their effective inductance, and the associated parasitic capacitance. Lastly, the course concludes with an overview of hybrid and monolithic MIC technologies, highlighting their salient features, advantages, and disadvantages.
