Materials and Meshing Setup Using Ansys Workbench — Lesson 2

As part of this course, we will model a carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) monocoque frame by using composite skin fabricated from carbon epoxy prepreg and honeycomb core. Many types of laminate structures providing different combinations of specific strength and stiffness are available in the market; you can choose the material of your choice. Make sure to carry out a structural equivalency test against steel-grade SAE/AISI 1010 to comply with Formula SAE rules for using a composite structure instead of a steel frame.
