Electric Machine Sizing Equations

This course covers the comprehensive understanding of electric motor design, analysis, and testing. It starts with the principles of design in relation to electrical machines, emphasizing the importance of design in various applications such as water pump applications, adjustable speed drives, electric traction, industrial motors, household appliances, and medical applications. The course then delves into the principles and standards involved in the design of electrical machines, explaining the basic and generalized equations used in designing any type of electrical machine. It further discusses the process of rewinding an electric motor, specifically a 36-slot, 6-pole motor designed to rotate at a speed of 1000 rpm. The course also covers the concept of power density and torque density, which are used to compare different machines. It concludes with the analysis of sizing equations in electrical machines, focusing on the (D3L) product, and provides a detailed example of selecting the dimensions of an induction machine with a power rating of 30 kilowatts.
