In this course you will learn how to use Stress Linearization for design validation. Some design codes require that membrane and bending stresses be treated differently. Common stress theories provide a convenient method of comparing a single stress value against an established allowable, but this may prove to be too conservative. Stress Linearization is useful when either of these situations are encountered.
