This course will introduce the simulation of welding using Ansys LS-DYNA® nonlinear dynamic structural simulation software. It will cover how to define a moving welding heat source, thermal contact between welding parts, welding material models, and the general setup of a welding process. The course includes practical examples to help you become familiar with these techniques.
Learning Outcomes:
Following completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Understand the basic elements of setting up a welding simulation in LS-DYNA.
- Know how to create a moving welding heat source in LS-DYNA.
- Know how to characterize thermal contacts between welding parts.
- Understand the welding material models in LS-DYNA.
- Know how to define initial and boundary conditions for a welding simulation.
- Do a general set-up of a welding simulation.
Prerequisites:
- Completion of Introduction to Ansys LS-DYNA Software course is recommended.
- Basic understanding of welding processes
Please note: These training materials were developed and tested in the 2021R1 release.
