This course will demonstrate how you perform the mist separation analysis in Ansys Fluent® fluid simulation software using its model transition capabilities. The mist separator or demister is used to remove liquid droplets or mist from a gas or vapor stream and has a wide range of applications in chemical processes, steam turbines, air compressors and HVAC systems. You will use Eulerian Wall Film (EWF)/DPM to VOF model transition mechanism that allows combined use of EWF, DPM and VOF models in the same run.

Learning Outcomes:

Following completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the usage of the VOF model and EWF to VOF transition tool in Ansys Fluent.
  • Setup and run mist separation simulation in Ansys Fluent.
  • Understand meaningful results from the solution of simulation.

Prerequisites:

Basic understanding of:

  • Getting Started with Ansys Fluent
  • Ansys Fluent Multiphase Flow Modeling

Please note: These training materials were developed and tested in the 2023R2 release.
