This tutorial is a part of the learning plan - Getting Started with Ansys EMC Plus Software. This learning plan develops skills in EMC and lightning analysis using Ansys EMC Plus™ electromagnetic interference and compatibility simulation software, MHARNESS, and EMA3D.
This tutorial will demonstrate the EMA3D and MHARNESS workflow for determining the electric field inside a PEC box, the voltage of conductors, and bulk current of an MHARNESS cable. This workflow includes setting up the problem space including a custom background, assigning properties, defining probes, and basic post-processing. This guide begins with a brief exploration of the Ansys Discovery™ 3D product simulation software interface, followed by instructions for setting up the simulation.
Learning Outcomes:
Following completion of this tutorial, you will be able to:
- Define the simulation domain and assign basic material properties.
- Create field probes and a simple MHARNESS cable with conductors and terminations.
- Set up a plane‑wave excitation and a custom background region.
- Define seams/joints and place voltage and bulk‑current probes.
- Mesh, run, and analyze the simulation to view field and cable responses.
Please note: These training materials were developed and tested in the 2025R2 release.
