This tutorial is dedicated to the analytical model validation through experimental procedures or FEA calculations for the 3-phase induction motors using Ansys Motor-CAD® dedicated electric motor design tool for multiphysics simulation .

The example test model corresponds to a 63/71 frame, 24 slots, 4 poles, Aluminium die-cast rotor, variable speed drive induction motor.

Learning Outcomes:

Following completion of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Extract induction motor equivalent circuit parameters from experimental tests.
  • Estimate magnetic characteristics and core losses.
  • Correlate analytical models with FEA simulations.
  • Determine rotor parameters using locked-rotor testing.
  • Validate machine performance under load conditions.
  • Calibrate induction motor models for high-fidelity simulation.

Prerequisites:

  • Getting Started with Ansys Motor-CAD Software course.

Please note: These training materials were developed and tested in the 2026 R1 release.
