This tutorial is a part of the learning plan - Getting Started with Ansys EMC Plus Software. This learning plan develops skills in EMC and lightning analysis using Ansys EMC Plus™ electromagnetic interference and compatibility simulation software, MHARNESS, and EMA3D.

This step‑by‑step tutorial is designed to teach you how to set up, run, and analyze a basic crosstalk simulation using Ansys Discovery™ 3D product simulation software with the EMA3D MHARNESS toolset. It will guide you through the complete workflow of building a multi‑conductor cable harness, defining voltage sources and probes, applying material properties, meshing the geometry, running the MHARNESS solver, and interpreting resulting field and voltage data.

The tutorial uses a structured sequence of numbered instructions, supported by visual references and tool‑specific menus, enabling you to independently complete the simulation from start to finish.

Learning Outcomes:

Following completion of this tutorial, you will be able to:

  • Define the MHARNESS simulation domain, including frequency range and lattice parameters.
  • Construct a multi‑segment cable harness with shields, TSPs, and conductors.
  • Create and configure pin voltage sources and assign custom excitation signals.
  • Add voltage and field probes to capture crosstalk and electromagnetic field data.
  • Assign material properties to model geometry for accurate simulation.
  • Generate the mesh and execute the MHARNESS simulation workflow.
  • Analyze and visualize simulation outputs, including field averages and voltage probe results.

Please note: These training materials were developed and tested in the 2025R2 release.
