Introduction to a PCB in Enclosure with Ansys EMC Plus Software (Tutorial)

This tutorial will guide you through the complete workflow for analyzing radiated electric fields generated by an imported near‑field source inside a computer enclosure. It provides a step‑by‑step, hands‑on experience with the essential features of Ansys EMC Plus software, including domain setup, source placement, material assignment, probe creation, meshing, simulation execution, and post‑processing.

You will begin by opening a prepared model file and defining the simulation domain. Then import and position a near‑field source, assign material properties to key components, and create both field probes and animation probes. After meshing the model geometry, you will run an integrated EMC simulation and view electric‑field data and animations to understand how fields propagate inside and outside the enclosure.

This tutorial is designed to build foundational confidence in using EMC Plus for EMC analysis.

Following completion of this tutorial, you will be able to:

• Set frequency bounds and define a complete simulation domain, including lattice size and stability requirements.
  • Import, orient, and position a near‑field source within the enclosure model.
  • Create and assign isotropic material properties (e.g., aluminum) to specified surfaces.
  • Create electric‑field probes to measure internal and external fields and configure animation probes on planar cuts.
  • Mesh the model geometry and verify mesh generation for individual components.
  • Run an integrated EMC simulation and monitor preprocessing, runtime progress, and solver output.
  • Post‑process results by computing field statistics, generating 2D plots, and creating field animations.
