This course is intended for users that want to get started in user defined material modelling in Ansys LS-DYNA® nonlinear dynamics structural simulation software. It begins with explaining different types of usermat packages that are available and shows how to use them with a demonstration example.

Learning Outcomes:

Following completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Install the Ansys LS-DYNA usermat package, compile the code, and run a simulation with a user material.
  • Implement basic elastoplastic material models based upon stress and strain measures.
  • Call a user subroutine with required inputs and outputs created with basic knowledge of Fortran.
  • Explore default user material implementations in Ansys LS-DYNA software, implement basic elastic and plastic material models, and use advanced features such as anisotropy, load curves, and history variables.

Prerequisites:

  • Completion of Introduction to Ansys LS-DYNA course is required.
