External Finite Element Method (FEM) Acoustics NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness) Mesh Workflow
2-4 HOURS
The External FEM Acoustic Mesh Workflow in Ansys 2024R2 offers a structured, wrapper-based approach for NVH simulations. It simplifies meshing through automated steps like hole filling, wrapping, enclosure creation, and PML region extrusion. You can define frequency-based mesh sizes, assign materials, and merge regions efficiently. The workflow reduces manual effort, improves accuracy, and integrates seamlessly with Ansys Mechanical™ structural finite element analysis software.
Learning Outcomes:
Following Completion of this course you will be able to:
- Understand the NVH (Noise Vibration Harshness) context and the role of External FEM Acoustics in simulation workflows.
- Navigate the Mesh Workflow interface in Ansys Mechanical software and access the External FEM Acoustic workflow.
- Create and improve surface and volume meshes
- Define enclosures and extruding acoustic/PML regions
- Merge regions and assigning material properties
- Transfer the final mesh to Ansys Mechanical software for simulation setup.
- Evaluate the benefits of the new workflow over traditional methods in terms of time, accuracy, and usability.
Please note: These training materials were developed and tested in the 2024R2 release.
