In this course, you will delve into the concept of static mixers and gain an in-depth understanding of the parameters that are used to evaluate the extent of mixing inside a static mixer. Through a hands-on exercise, you will learn how to use the Watertight Geometry Workflow in Ansys Meshing™ 2D/3D mesh generation and analysis capability to generate a CFD-ready mesh of the static mixer. You will then explore the setup of solver settings and perform a CFD simulation of fluid mixing inside a static mixer. To determine the residence time, you will use two different modeling approaches: the User-Defined Scalar (UDS) approach and the Discrete Phase Model (DPM) approach. Throughout this four-lesson course, you will use a hands-on approach to ensure that you gain practical knowledge and experience in simulating and analyzing static mixer flow dynamics. In addition, you will cover the use of post-processing elements to study flow physics inside the static mixer and analyze the quality of mixing.
