This course focuses on how to simulate the phenomenon of liquid sloshing in a vaccine vial, similar to the one used in the pharmaceutical industry. This course will guide you through the entire 3D simulation workflow, right from generating the computational mesh for the provided geometry, setting up the simulation in Ansys Fluent® fluid simulation software and analyzing the results to understand the sloshing behavior.
Learning Outcomes:
Following completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Understand liquid sloshing and its related issues, as well as to get a basic outline of the steps to perform a transient multiphase CFD-simulation of sloshing in a vial bottle, typically used in pharmaceutical industry.
- Use Ansys Fluent Meshing Watertight Geometry Workflow to create a mesh from the imported geometry using a series of simple guided workflow operations.
- Perform a CFD simulation using VOF multiphase approach.
- Use different post processing elements to analyze sloshing and investigate the forces involved along with the potential issue of liquid spillage.
Prerequisites:
- A technical education and background in fluid mechanics is recommended but not mandatory.
- Exposure to multiphase flow modelling is desired.
- Basic understanding of Ansys Fluent Meshing and Ansys Fluent solver.
Please note: These training materials were developed and tested in the 2022R1 release.
