In this course, we will explore the importance and the need for cold storage boxes used in the cold chain shipping process employed in industries such as food and beverage, pharmaceutical, and many others. The design of such boxes depends on the temperature range in which the product being transported should be maintained.
This 4-lesson course will help you setup and perform a CFD simulation and thermal analysis of a generic cold storage box that is used in the pharmaceutical industry to transport vaccine vials.
Learning Outcomes:
Following completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Appraise the importance of cold storage boxes used in the cold chain shipping process.
- Use the Watertight Geometry Meshing Workflow in Ansys Fluent® fluid simulation software to generate mesh for the imported geometry through a succession of intuitive guided workflow tasks.
- Setup and perform a CFD simulation and thermal analysis of a generic cold storage box that is used in the pharmaceutical industry to transport vaccine vials
- Model the property changes of ice in the icepack, which is a part of the cold storage box, as it undergoes phase-change to water, without actually modeling the melting process itself to save computational effort.
- Setup various post-processing elements and understand the flow physics by analyzing the temporal variation of the temperature.
Prerequisites:
- A technical education and background in fluid mechanics and heat transfer is recommended.
Please note: These training materials were developed and tested in the 2022R2 release.
