Interested in the simulation of short-fiber composite materials? If you are an FEA user of Ansys, it is highly likely, you face challenges with short fiber composites. This course is designed to help you address these challenges by giving you an overview of the main concepts, including how to bring the required data to Ansys Mechanical™ structural finite element analysis software and how to make the material calibration needed for getting accurate results.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand the basics of the theory behind short fiber composites.
  • Understand key steps of the workflow inside Ansys Workbench™ simulation integration platform.
  • Import and map data from injection simulation software commonly used such as Moldflow, Moldex3D, etc.
  • Make a linear calibration using Material Designer and/or direct optimization.
  • Make a non-linear calibration using Material Designer.
  • Use a calibrated material in the evaluation of a component.

Prerequisites:

It is recommended to review the following sections in the Ansys Material Designer User's Guide:

  • 3.1. Analytical Homogenization
    • 3.3. Hill Plasticity Curve Fitting for Short Fiber Reinforced Composites

Please note: These training materials were developed and tested in the 2025R1 release.

  • Cost:
    $450.00
  • Course Duration: 4-6 HOURS
  • Skill Level: Intermediate
  • Skills Gained: Modeling Mechanical Behavior, Material Designer, Linear and Nonlinear (plasticity) Calibration
