This course covers the comprehensive understanding of Duff System Modelling and Vibration Modelling, two essential topics in civil engineering. The course starts with an introduction to the Duff system, using a portal frame as an example to demonstrate how to model and solve it. It further delves into the system's details, discussing elements like stiffness, mass, and forcing function. The course also explores the concept of degrees of freedom and the application of force to the system. The course then transitions into the topic of damped free vibration in a single degree of freedom system, explaining the three different cases of damping: over-damped, critically damped, and under-damped systems. The course concludes with the topic of free vibration in a single degree of freedom (SDOF) system, explaining the role of damping and the different types of damping such as structural, viscous, coulomb, and negative damping.
