How to teach social sustainability to engineering and design students

Ansys

Category: Tag:

Overview

In this webinar we will explore the less practiced aspect of social sustainability in engineering education, demonstrating the Ansys Academic Social Impact Audit Tool Application (SIAT App). While the integration of specific methodologies, such as Social Life Cycle Assessment (S-LCA) are being tested and unevenly applied in engineering curricula, the topic is regularly being discussed in the engineering education space (for example, contributions from the annual conference by European Society for Engineering Education (SEFI) in 2024).

The SIAT App helps to teach concepts of S-LCA, as it allows to analyze potential social impact at a national scale, enabling comparison between products across their life cycles. The webinar will introduce the SIAT App in the context of a workflow for sustainable design decision-making, connecting to material selection, Eco Audit and Sustainability Database in Ansys Granta EduPack.
